How the public component atlas is generated

One deterministic generator joins the reviewed crop manifest, source-sheet metadata, and canonical commercial configuration.

Preview method

Each component page loads the public, lower-resolution LOC source-sheet preview and applies the manifest’s normalized crop coordinates in the browser. It does not copy a source crop, cleaned reference, thumbnail corpus, master TIFF, or paid ZIP asset into the public atlas.

Fact boundary

Descriptions are assembled only from component titles, types, source-sheet identity, building, location, survey, sheet number, tags, and deterministic relationships. The atlas does not infer style, construction date, material, restoration method, code compliance, field suitability, or designer intent.

Rights and use

The underlying HABS public record remains freely accessible from the Library of Congress. Q-Surface sells selection, cropping, indexing, image preparation, provenance binding, packaging, and delivery—not ownership of the public record. This material is not a construction document, restoration specification, generated CAD, or evidence of NPS or Library of Congress affiliation or endorsement.

The paid ZIP contains 50 master-TIFF-derived source crops, 50 cleaned references, thumbnails, CSV and JSON metadata, rights and source manifests, a local index, and provenance files.
